    At Unitek College in Fremont, Vocational Nursing students study in an environment designed to support both academic learning and hands-on skill development.     Courses at the Fremont campus incorporate a variety of instructional methods designed to engage students in the learning process. In addition to lectures, instructors use active learning activities that encourage participation and deeper understanding of course material. Students complete individual assignments, collaborative group exercises, and presentations that reinforce key nursing concepts while strengthening communication and critical thinking skills.

    Simulation and skills labs
    Hands-on practice is a central part of the learning experience at the Fremont campus. Nursing skills labs are equipped to replicate patient care environments and include patient units with hospital beds, nightstands, overbed tables, and privacy curtains. Students train with simulated oxygen and suction systems, portable suction units, oxygen tanks, vital sign equipment, and mobility devices such as wheelchairs and walkers. The program utilizes Laerdal basic, mid-fidelity, and high-fidelity manikins to support realistic patient care simulations. Additional training models include half-torso simulators for nasogastric tube insertion, diabetic foot models that illustrate common complications, wound care models, and maternity simulators.
    Student learning and collaboration spaces
    In addition to classrooms and labs, the Fremont campus provides computer labs, study areas, and student lounge spaces that support both independent study and peer collaboration. These spaces allow students to review course materials, prepare assignments, and connect with classmates throughout the Vocational Nursing program.
