    Program Overview
At Unitek College of Nursing, the LVN to BSN program offers Licensed Vocational Nurses an accelerated pathway to Registered Nurse licensure and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. Eligible LVNs may bypass the first three semesters of a traditional BSN curriculum, allowing completion in as few as two years. Grounded in Caritas principles, the curriculum emphasizes compassionate, human-centered care alongside leadership, evidence-based practice, and advanced clinical judgment. The first four semesters are delivered online in an asynchronous format, with general education courses starting every eight weeks and the three primary core nursing courses beginning once a year to maintain structured progression. In addition to flexible online learning, students participate in hands-on clinical rotations across a variety of healthcare settings, supported by on-campus skills labs, high-fidelity simulation, and virtual reality experiences to reinforce real-world readiness. Guided by experienced nursing faculty and supported by career coaching, graduates are prepared to expand their scope of practice, increase earning potential, and advance confidently as BSN-prepared Registered Nurses.

Registered Nurses (RNs) provide medical care to patients in various healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics, schools, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities. They also educate patients and their families about health conditions, risk factors, and tips for maintaining a healthier life.

Registered nursing duties typically include assessing patient symptoms and conditions, recording medical histories, administering treatments, and developing treatment plans alongside doctors and other healthcare professionals. Depending on their locations, some RNs may also operate medical equipment or help perform diagnostic exams.

Registered Nurses with a BSN degree may qualify for added responsibilities, specializations, and career opportunities. They can become specialized nurses in the fields of pediatrics, surgery, ICU, palliative care, or other focus areas. They can also pursue advanced roles as researchers, department supervisors, or nursing instructors.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), RN employment is expected to grow 5% by 2034. Becoming a Registered Nurse can also lead to a steady source of income. The BLS reports that the average salary of an RN is about $98,430
