At Unitek College in Bakersfield, California, nursing students have access to purpose-built learning environments designed to support success in the BSN program. With more than 10,000 square feet, students benefit from small class sizes, modern facilities, and programs designed to prepare them for success in healthcare. Together, these campus amenities create a structured and supportive environment where BSN students at Unitek College in Bakersfield can build the skills, confidence, and professional readiness required for a successful nursing career.
Simulation and skills labs
The Bakersfield campus features dedicated nursing SIM and skills labs designed to replicate real healthcare environments. Students practice core nursing procedures in structured, hands-on settings using industry-standard equipment and patient-care stations that mirror hospital layouts. Labs are equipped with adult and pediatric mannequins, IV poles, enteral feeding pumps, blood pressure cuffs, scales, medication carts, and other essential clinical tools. These environments allow students to develop technical proficiency, critical thinking skills, and clinical confidence before entering supervised clinical rotations.
Virtual reality learning
Virtual reality (VR) technology is integrated into the BSN program as an immersive learning tool. VR simulations allow students to engage in realistic patient-care scenarios, practice assessments, administer medications, and strengthen communication skills in a safe, controlled environment. This technology enhances clinical readiness by exposing students to situations that may not arise during scheduled clinical rotations.
Student learning and collaboration spaces
Beyond clinical training areas, the Bakersfield campus provides supportive academic spaces, including a Learning Resource Center, collaboration rooms for group study, and a student lounge. These areas are designed to promote focused learning, peer engagement, and academic support throughout the nursing program.
The Bakersfield CA Campus
The Bakersfield campus is located near the southern end of the San Joaquin Valley in Kern County, California. The campus is easy to reach via the Golden State Highway and Stockdale Highway, with ample parking available on-site. Students benefit from modern classrooms, dedicated simulation labs, computer labs, and comfortable study areas. Beyond campus life, Bakersfield offers a variety of ways to unwind, from scenic parks and hiking trails to local restaurants and cafes. Popular destinations include Hart Memorial Park and the Panorama Bluffs. At Unitek, we recognize that success requires both focus and balance, which is why we encourage students to study hard while also making time to recharge.
