About the PN Program in Reno
The Practical Nursing program at Unitek College’s Reno campus is an ideal pathway for students who want to join the healthcare field sooner while gaining strong, career-ready skills. This program blends classroom instruction with hands-on training rooted in Jean Watson’s Caritas Principles, emphasizing compassionate, patient-centered care alongside clinical skill development. Students can choose between a full-time day program that can be completed in as few as 12 months or a part-time evening program that takes approximately 75 weeks (about 19 months), offering flexibility for different schedules. Throughout the program, students build practical experience through on-campus skills labs, high-fidelity simulation, and VR-enhanced training, then apply those skills during supervised clinical rotations in a variety of healthcare settings, including hospitals, long-term care facilities, and community-based care environments. Guided by experienced nursing instructors, students develop confidence, strengthen clinical judgment, and prepare for real-world patient care.
